The Village: A Maternity Group Home

The Village is a maternity group home created to support homeless pregnant and parenting youth aged 16-22. Inspired by Safe Harbor’s 35 years of experience serving vulnerable children and families, this program fills a critical gap in our community by providing young mothers with a safe, stable place to live with their children while receiving essential support services.

Many of the young mothers we serve face profound challenges—some are aging out of foster care, others have experienced trauma, homelessness, or lack a strong support system. Without resources, they are often forced to choose between their own safety or staying with their child. The Village eliminates that impossible choice by providing:

  • Safe housing for young mothers and their children
  • Parenting education & life skills training
  • Emotional support & mentorship
  • Access to childcare, education, and employment opportunities

While a federal grant launched this initiative, additional funding is urgently needed for furniture, baby essentials, part-time staffing, and initial childcare deposits to help these families thrive.

The name The Village is inspired by the belief that "it takes a village to raise a child." Our mission is to be that village—a community of care, support, and opportunity that empowers young mothers to build stable, independent futures for themselves and their children.
